Favorite running memory: On honeymoon at Palmetto Bluff, joked about how there was enough luscious landscape to create a solid marathon course. A few years later a marathon/half marathon was held there, so in 2018 the couple signed up for the half on a whim and Sara won it.

- Her brother, Andy Powell, ran a 4:00 mile in high school; coached Sara to Foot Locker Cross Country Nationals while he was at Stanford, the first athlete he ever coached. He now coaches at University of Washington
- Has two medical conditions: gastroparesis, which affects the ability to fuel, and rheumatoid arthritis
