- He and wife, Paige, had their first child, Landon, in September of 2019. Wife has run 2:59:47 for the marathon
- Tore his ACL in 2003 playing soccer; injury made him more motivated than ever to do well in track because he missed it so much. Won on to win three straight Class D state high school cross country titles and two track titles.
